Rest In Peace Steve Irwin 04/09/2006

posted by Alvin Chan

Stephen Robert Irwin (Steve Irwin), Born 22th February 1962, was pierced by a barb of a stingray on 4th September 2006 while doing an underwater diving expedition. According to The Star Papers, he swam too near to one of the Stingray and did not expect the venomous barb to pierce under his ribcage, and put an immediate hole into his heart.

Steve was famous for his unparred courage and loving attitude towards reptiles, creatures that are ordinary humans dislike and feel uncomfortable to even look into the creature’s eyes. Steve’s attitude and with the broadcasting of Crocodile Hunter, won him international celebrity fame.

The irony of his death was that, Steve Irwin was killed by a rather passive, peaceful fish rather than a dangerous, proactive reptiles or creatures that he used to handle.

I was shocked when I saw this news on the papers, I mean, how can such a man who handle so many deadly crocodiles, reptiles and always goes, “Crikey, look at that piece of beauty!” died in such a manner? It is just too unfair somehow, he did not anticipate such a coming too eh? And now, the world lost a wonderful enviromentalist, who loves reptile in such a manner that many idolize him and getting influenced by him. 44 years, is just too young for such a man to be gone from us.

“Rest In Peace Steve Irwin, One who loves the nature, one who changes human perspective towards nature”

“I consider myself a wild-life warrior. My mission is to save the world’s endangered species.” -Steve Irwin

Quieto TAR Environment

posted by Alvin Chan

As though some “End of the World” spell was cast upon TAR College, the enviroment inside TAR College since the beginning of this week is so much different from the normal days.

If you were to bring a noise level measurement machine and measure any spot in the campus for this week, you will find it at a level of Serenity - a level where bird chirps can be hear clearly and the breeze of woods dance to your ears like an italian dancer.

Where did the humans went? All what was left right now here are only the School of Pre-Universities Students entering the campus for their lessons. The rest of them, including me, are camping inside our rooms at home, hostel, burning the midnight oil for our exams which will begin tomorrow, 7th October 2006.

All school’s in TAR College will commence examinations except for Schhol of Pre-Universities. That is why they are different from us, in terms of holiday, exams schedule. When they have holiday, we are studying; When we have holiday, they are studying. It’s quite a big contrast :D

Been having 4 hours of sleep only for the past few days, crunching every bits of data and concepts into my memory storage - Brain. And it seems waking up at 4am in the morning really makes the mind refreshing to start a day of revising works, and that includes someone accompanying you SMS-ing for a while to warm up your brain (eg: Ying Hui).

Even the CiTC(Communication & Information Technology Centre) in our college is empty with only a bundle of 20+ people including me using the PCs.

I came over all the way from hostel and reached the Student Affairs Department only to be notified that my Hostel Approval had not been processed. OMG, and they said allow for 3 working days! Well, I submitted on Monday, so that makes 3 working days - (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday).

O well, guess what they meant was, 3 working days (excluding day of submission).

I’ll stop now for this entry and get prepared for my English paper tomorrow. And I might write my next entry about ways to stay alive and the burn the midnight oil all day long. Hah! Adioz!
