Minister Starts Malaysia’s First Day Of 2008 with Sex Scandal Confession

This is so great. Just when I thought 2008 is going to be a smooth year with more smiles. With general elections coming around the corner (pretty much around March), today’s breaking shocking news is a confession by our beloved (is he still your beloved?) Health Minister, Dr Chua Soi Lek admitting he’s the one in the 2 DVD sex tape which was circulating around Johor areas, namely Muar, Batu Pahat and Tangkak these days.

Eyewitnesses said there were 2 DVD packed in a big envelopes and distributed to corridors for the public in Johor. It was said the videos are recorded using closed circuit television (CCTV), and sexual acts between the 2 characters are video taped.

As you know, a fire ignited with the sex element in it will never die off that easily wherever you go this world. Pirated VCD peddlers will be grabbing a copy of it and mass produce it to serve the rising demand of it. Medias will start to fried up this hot topic, political parties will use this as a good reason for the embarrassment Chua Soi Lek has done in his capacity of Minister of Health in Malaysia.

Forget about whether the 2 adults in the video, where Dr Chua and he’s supposedly age 30 plus “personal friend” engaging in consensual activities is alright in the name of law. What’s more important right now is, how are we going to let our younger generations live through their teenage till adult live with such examples being spread out like wild fire. It’s a dark area in this field, you may argue it isn’t wrong for them as they gave their consent and so on, but, is this correct from our eyes of moral values?

I say we need to give our citizens a clean and clear examples of how our group of leaders behave. Let’s not give the new generations a wrong perception of what is right and what is wrong and be at right course with our moral values and culture, Malaysia culture.

Brief Timeline Of 2007

January

Got a new piece of desktop which comes with 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo overclocked till 3.0GHz. This month is also the month where I start using Windows Vista for my computers.

February

Celebrated my room mate’s birthday at Red Box. Eligible for voting in Malaysia huh?

March

High school mates barbecue gathering at Qi Xiang’s house.

And a parcel from The Netherlands.

April

PC fair at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

And relative’s wedding.

May

Genting trip with friends.

Eating around with friends.

And primary school mates gathering.

Cleaning up 2 units of house for renting out.

June

UV nation party, still a first with college mates.

And a nice garden my mother took great care of.

July

I lost my collection of pictures for the months after July. I wonder too how do I recover them back as its amounting right up to nearly 25GB. This month is where I celebrated my birthday with friends at the top of Fraser Hill. It’s a nice experience as all I need to do is sleep in the car and we’re on top of the hill in a less than an hour, with the rising moon reflecting its light on us.

August

Test drive Mitsubishi Lancer GT 2.0 which just got launched in Malaysia at a nice price tag for a Completely Built Up unit all the way from Japan.

September

Photos of this month gone missing too. It’s exam season so I’m just cranking up with books and notes.

October

Things got tense up in this months as some friends are having money issues among each other.

November

Up to Genting occasionally to get fresh air after a small relief of the mid-terms which comes to us every week for the the whole 10 weeks.

December

Party up for Christmas at friends place. However, things got worst for the days that follow which I won’t elaborate further.

I hope 2008 will be a better year for me, 2006 and 2007 is almost hellish for me.

Towards Fixed Width Theme

If you haven’t notice this, I’ve change the theme for my blog again, only this time featuring a web 2.0 color feel with some Web 2.0 features in it. I’ve modified the theme from Web 2.0 Themes where I changed the slideshow div element into my header element.

Also, you will realize that I used a fixed width theme right now, as opposed to the fluid width theme before. You might ask why is it so? I’ll answer you, “Why isn’t it so?”

Fixed versus Fluid width

Fixed width themes and fluid width themes differ between each other in a few aspects. First off, fluid width tends to stretch the web page to fit just nicely into any browser size you are using (think screen resolution). If you have a small size of your screen utilized for your browser, you will see that things like contents will be collapsed down line by line without breaking some elements, like sidebars. Fluid width themes use percentage to limit an element from the other. Therefore a browser has a 100% size, and part of it will be allocated for sidebar, while the other part will be allocated for contents, etc, etc.

Fixed width themes however tend to fix the size of the usable area for displaying content in your browser size that you allocated. It sets specific size an element can be stretch within the whole browser. This is done by limiting the pixels of a big div element, or using similar techniques.

So why not fluid? It displays things that suit to the users isn’t it?

True, fluid width themes displays nicely in any size, but let’s not forget some facts.

Majority of internet users are using 1024*768 resolution screen size
Wide screen monitor is not widely used as of now
Not everything in your web page can be placed nicely in a fluid theme

Without going much into details, a fixed width theme which sets a maximum width of the contents to a size of around 900 pixels and above is definitely displaying it nicely in a browser resolution size of 1024*768. As for resolutions above 1024*768, you can still display it nicely provided the webmaster has already centerize the whole element.

Wide screen monitors are just an eye candy which everyone would love to use to watch High Definition movies, DVD etc. However, displaying a fluid theme in wide screen monitor has a totally different experience than displaying it in normal CRT monitors. In wide screen monitors, contents will be stretched to the max and you might not felt it to be too cluttered, but once you change the web page to be viewed in a CRT monitor, you will see many oddities in your web page layout which makes reading your web page an eyesore. Let’s face this fact right now, wide screen is becoming popular, but it isn’t what the majority of internet users are using right now.

For a blog, you will be using at least one widget out there, and don’t forget that these widgets do not come in fluid sizes which will stretch nicely according to your specified column. Specifying a fluid width to a sidebar, or more sidebar, can be a nightmare for your web page viewers if they are on a resolution which is totally from you, the web master’s, resolution. Your monitor might be big enough where a 11% of browser size can fit a 175pixel of Blogrush widget, but it might not be enough for your viewer’s small monitor size.

Simplicity’s sake
Therefore, for simplicity’s sake, I’m sticking with a fixed width theme for now. In fact, I’ve converted 7hirst dot Com’s theme from a 2 column fluid width theme to a 3 column fixed width theme. Things like people complaining web pages are not showing up nicely in their big monitors will not be happening in at least 3 years time, so I’ll stick with this for now and everyone can view it nicely while I’m getting one problem solve with web site layout.

Priority

You know how life is when you get out of high school and enter the society. There’s many many things for you to do and yet very very few time for you to utilize. Over the times, you are the subject of gossips from old friends where you ditch them aside, some will understand, but most won’t.

This is life. In the process of pursuing success in life, we all move forward, whether it’s a big step, or a small step. But the main point is, we are moving forward. I do not blame them for telling their tales about me, because it’s a fact that I do contact some of them less as time goes on. I’m just a human with 2 legs and cannot be at 2 places at the same time.

However, it would always be nice to get in touch with old friends again and brag about what you have been doing while you are missing in action. You may also realize most of them, like you change, and it’s always a nice feeling to see how much they change.

But it’s also a good plus if we can prioritize our schedule and balance up time allocated for old friends and new friends. This way, we won’t lose them all, and gain more fun, at the cost of your troublesome brain cells to think up the best plan for your time though. I’m bad at this point, as I can hardly find time much for closest friends in high school. But it’s good news I’m prioritizing them right now.

Simple Look

I’ve opted for a simple look for my blog as oppose to mesozaic theme which I modified last year.

Simplicity, minimalist is what I wanted to have it this time as it shows “beauty in the inside”. You can also note that I always choose white backgrounds because it is the most suitable color in my opinion for my readers to view the contents without having an eyesore.

Back to some assignments and studies for now, will update more when time is accomodating.
