It’s amazing, considering the sex scandal that has plague Dr Chua’s political career 2 years ago, he still manage to come out as the winner for the head of the party. This might just be a first in this region. In most cases, politicians which had been hit hard by sex scandal would mostly be criticised for their ‘ill’ behaviour and be cast aside. It seems that the stigma of sex scandal no longer have its effect on the political culture in Malaysia. Or is this a sign that MCA no longer has the right candidate to lead them after all?
After the long period of fighting, and since the party has decided on who to lead them, I would say MCA should buck up and get down to the citizens. Having re-elections like this does not have much impact on the citizens as of now as the party itself is no longer relevant for us. The people may be there, but the spirit and foundations of principles have all been gone.
