Unity – Together We Stand Strong, Divided We Fall
Apr 6th
Unity is the state of being one or undivided, be it in mind or for a purpose. It is the pillar which holds the foundation for the success of an organized system. Without unity, the system will be in chaos, divided and without proper order among the population of the system. Nations will fall, corporations will collapse as a result of lack of unity among the populations.
Genghis Khan was a leader who managed to unite the many tribes and confederations in the Central Asian plateau. Prior to his military campaign, These tribes were strong in their own way and each of them were in no good ties with one another, leading to the constant chaos of raiding, plundering and revenge-led campaigns against one another, thus leading to a constant warring period. Under Genghis Khan, Mongol Empire is united as one and manage to expand its border to a wide area.
The warring period in China came to an end with Emperor Qin Shi Huang ending the constant battle among the states with a military sweep on each of the states, thus unifying China as one for the first time. Though he maybe a very cruel leader and his move had resulted in a massive lost of Chinese philosopher knowledge when he ordered every books in China to be burned, it remains the fact that China had at last been unified and the constant chaos had been a thing of the past.
Unity From the Heart
Unity is achieved in the Feudalism period by conquering and surpressing the population, which led to alot of bloodshed as a result. Unity in a nation itself does not need to go through bloodsheding process, nor shall it be able to be achieved by coercion or surpression. This works the same for corporation. In an organized system, unity will only present itself when everyone is content with their being in the system itself and unity will automatically be acknowledged by everyone and be applied across the entire network of organization, be it top to down unity or unity among peers. How do you expect unity to form among your employees when you’re implementing policies which prevents him/her from being treated equally even among his/her peers?

This is the rate for the residential package and below is the rate for business package.

Google Redirects China Users to Hong Kong
Mar 23rd
In regards to the hard stance made by Google on China’s information censorship, they had decided to redirect users getting to google.cn to their servers in Hong Kong.
This bold move that Google has brought upon themselves had just soured the relationship of China government and Google, and looking as it is right now, China will not back down easily and will do anything within its capacity to utilize the ‘Great Firewall of China‘ to block access to google.cn or impose laws to deter this act of slithering around the law which Google has done.
I would say this move is a temporary measure for Google and it needs to have a long term viable solution in order to remain in the China market by upholding their principles and at the same time not bowing down to the government of China. Somewhere along the lines, China will force Google to make a choice to choose one side of the coin as this is too big a risk for China to ignore. Should the China government bow down to Google at this time, it would just set a precedent for other companies to go through this loophole and make more demands to China in future. Questions like ‘If Google can operate freely, why not others?’ will arise.
And yet, Google might just yet be the best example to be used by China to set an example for other companies trying to act in defiance. How do you think this game will be played?
Wrong Approach by Google On China’s Information Censorship
Mar 22nd
User shawn41111 from Cnet had this to say,
1. There is a concept of natural law which supersede positive laws. For instance, the Chinese government cannot make a law declaring gravity illegal. And many democratically organized cultures view the kind of censorship in place in China as against a natural law related to freedom and hence the man-made (positive) law is not valid.
2. This is not about buildings on maps. This is about a fundamental view that continuing to supporting the paranoid attitude of the Chinese government is tantamount to agreeing with it.
3. Ask yourself, if every country in the world restricted information as it is restricted in China. Would humanity be better off or would humanity be worse off? The answer to this question should answer for you the question of whether the behavior of the Chinese government is good.
4. Many westerners like me view the censorship in China and ponder. Why is it the Chinese people have so little trust for each other. Why do they insist on their government treating them like children. Clearly the Chinese people are intelligent, hard working, responsible… why don’t they insist their government treat them that way.
What he said is true, anyone can have their view on whether freedom of information flow is right or wrong, in this case, the fundamental rights of a citizen. But China is one of a kind of country where the structure of its government and society is different from others. A free flow of information can be distorted easily and will be a disaster worst than a tsunami for China as their society is not ready to accept things and make a clear self-judgment on it. Therefore, the system of ‘Boss knows the best’ still works better for China as of now. China has many enemies, and enemies are bound to find a flaw in their system and exploit it to serve their agendas.
Nevertheless, Google’s hard stance on China’s information censorship is bound to be a bite at their own foot. China will never back down on such a daring demand by Google, and they can live with or without Google any other day. Google had entered China using the wrong leg, thus earning themselves the title of ‘Big Hypocrite’. This is where the question of whether Google can afford to forgo this large market and remain strong in the long term. By bombing China with threats of pulling out is just a stupid act of burning your own bridge, forever sealing off your only way into the land of opportunity. If only they had been smarter and continue to act in the interest of profit and slowly evolve the mindset of Chinese government and not trying to push for a revolution in information freedom. The many activists and revolutionaries out there in China knows best on how those acting in defiance will be dealt with by the authorities.
It’s true that rights to information should be available for everyone, but the approach to it is on a case by case basis, taking into account the many factors surrounding the subject. For corporates and other parties wishing to bring a change to the current situation in China, make an effort to remind yourselves to bring in an evolutionary change to it rather than a revolutionary one. China is not a country to be joke with.
